This section is important if you intend to go to buy a new empty apartment, if you intend to go with other options like furnished suites, please skip this part.

Used items:

Finding used items in good condition may be somewhat time consuming, but the fact that Saudi Arabia has lots of expatriates that’s why you will find lots of used items all the time. The best website for this purpose will be expatriates.

Brand new:

For a newly married couple; you can have a home furnished new with around 9K – 20K SAR, following is a listing of sample items and their prices with some advice:

The problem comes in summer as you will find that you will put everything in refrigerator including vegetables, fruits, bread, and also medicine.
Washer with front loading door	7kg = 1800 – 3000 SAR	There are three main categories in electrical washer: 1.     Ordinary: For ordinary wash, I think no wife will accept this type. 2.     Automatic with front loading (as automatic in Egypt): recommended. 3.     Automatic with upper loading (It was my first time to see this type of washer, it is not found in Egypt): The only problem in this type is that it doesn’t have heater in it, which is major concern, as you will never clean white clothes without heater.
Gas stove / cooker	4GB = 1000 - 1800 SAR 5GB = 2500 – 3300 SAR	With 4 GB will be enough, but take care of two things: 1.     Space between the 4 GB so you can cook freely. 2.     The oven volume. These are the most important thing you should look before taking decision, otherwise buy a bigger one.
Oven electric toaster	250 – 400 SAR	You will find lots of them but take care of the following: 1.     Have both upper and lower heater. 2.     Have timer. 3.     Have temperature control.
LCD Full HD 1080	40 inches = 2000 – 2800 SAR	Best brands are Sony, Samsung, LG.

Best stores for electrical equipment in KSA are Extra, and Electro. Sometimes, you will find in big markets like Hyper Panda, & Carrefour offers which are considered great opportunities.

  

Saudi made furniture is located in several places usually in local markets like Al Uwais (Only new), Bin Kasem (New & used).

Modern furniture is located in HomeCentre, IKEA, Dimos. Better to wait for sale for these stores, usually they have 30% – 70% off.

هذا الجزء هام إذا كنت تنوي شراء شقة جديدة فارغة، الرجاء تخطي هذا الجزء إذا كنت تنوي شقق أو أجنحة مفروشة.

أثاث مستعمل:

العثور على أثاث مستعمل في حالة جيدة قد يكون مضيعة للوقت، ولكن الحقيقة أن المملكة العربية السعودية لديها الكثير من المغتربين لهذا السبب سوف تجد الكثير من المستعمل في كل وقت. وأفضل موقع لهذا الغرض يكون المغتربين.

أثاث جديد:

للمتزوجين حديثا يمكنك الحصول على أثاث جديد ب 9 – 20 ألف ريال سعودى، فيما يلي عينة من متطلبات المنزل وأسعارها مع بعض النصائح:

غسالة بتحميل أمامى	7 كيلو  = 1800 – 3000	هناك ثلاث فئات رئيسية في الغسالة الكهربائية: 1- العادي: غسيل و شطف منفصل، وأعتقد أن أي زوجة لن تقبل هذا النوع. 2- التلقائي مع باب التحميل أمامي: أوصى به. 3- التلقائي مع التحميل من أعلى:المشكلة الوحيدة في هذا النوع هو أنه ليس لديها سخان ذاتى.
موقد غاز	4 عيون  = 1000 - 1800 5 عيون  = 2500 – 3300	عادة 4 عيون يكون كافيا، ولكن إحرص على أمرين: 1- المسافة بين العيون تكون كبيرة بحيث يمكنك الطبخ بحرية. 2- جم الفرن. هذه هي أهم شيء يجب أن تنظر قبل اتخاذ القرار، وإلا شراء موقد أكبر.
فرن كهربائى	250 – 400	وسوف تجد الكثير منهم ولكن الحرص على الأمور التالية: 1- على حد سواء العليا والسفلى سخان. 2- يكون الموقت. 3- لديك التحكم في درجة الحرارة.
تليفزيون ال سى دى عالى الوضوح	40 بوصة = 2000 – 2800	أفضل العلامات التجارية هي سوني، سامسونج، إل جي.

أفضل متاجر المعدات الكهربائية في السعودية هم من اكسترا، و الكترو. في بعض الأحيان ستجد تخفيضات مميزة في الأسواق الكبيرة مثل هايبر باندا، و كارفور.

  

يقع الأثاث السعودي في عدة أماكن عادة في الأسواق المحلية مثل  أسواق العويس (جديد فقط) و أسواق الخليج ، حراج بن قاسم (الجديدة والمستعملة)  و حراج النسيم للمستعمل.

الأثاث الحديث فى محلات  هوم سنتر، ايكيا،ديموس. يستحسن انتظار التخفيضات حيث تصل الى 30٪ - 70٪ .

You need to take the following into consideration before choosing your option:

1- How big is the flat and to how many years this will suite your needs, i.e. a flat of 1 room & living is perfect for a newly married couple for about 2 years, then most probably you will need to move to another flat.

2- How old is the building itself, the newer the expensive with more facilities. above prices for building between 4 - 7 years old.

3- If there is an elevator or not, although most buildings in Riyadh are just 2 or 3 floors, but elevator will make it easy for you especially if you have pregnant wife, or you have baby and you need to make it easy when you use the stroller.

4- The location of the flat to your work, and how the district is good and healthy for your family, the better the expensive.

5- Advice if you have family and your salary is good enough better to try compound at the beginning to make your family happy.

6- If there is garage or not, really big advantage as you will find your car standing away from sun which is a very big advantage in KSA.

The prices I provided is based on Riyadh as a city, and the year 2012, and assuming you are targeting moderate life style.

بعض الأمور لاتحاذها فى الاعتبار: 

1- حجم الشقة المناسب لعائلتك فمثلا شقة من غرفة و صالة تكفى لزوجين حديثين لمدة سنتين.

2- عمر البناية كلما كانت جديدة تكون أغلى، الأسعار بأعلى هى لبنايات عمرها من 4 الى 7 سنوات.

3- هل يوجد مصعد أم لا، للمتزوجين و زوجاتهم حوامل أو معهم أطفال فى عربية أطفال يكون المصعد هام جدا.

4- الحى الموجود به المنزل يؤثر على قيمة الايجار.

5- نصيحة اذا كنت من أصحاب العائلات و مرتبك يسمحلك بتحمل العبئ المادى أن تحاول فى المجمع السكنى أولا حتى تكون أسرتك سعيدة بوجود انشطة.
6- يوجد جراج أو لا، امتياز رائع لحماية السيارة من الشمس.

الأسعار بأعلى لمدينة الرياض عام 2012 و اعتبار مستوى معيشة متوسط.

To Travel or not to Travel? That's the question

Travel if:

1. You're targeting to increase your income.
2. You wish to perform Umrah or Hajj regularly, and enjoy style of life that keeps you close to GOD.
3. You want to increase the practical experience in working in major projects with high budgets.
4. You are tired of the fast pace of life in your country and would like to have some tranquility and calm.

Do not travel if:

1. You feel nostalgia for the homeland and family.
2. You need to take care to one of family member.
3. You like bustling open life, KSA is very conservative country.

Other considerations:

1. Wife: Most expatriates women suffer in KSA boredom, some causes are (wearing black all the time, relying on the husband to go out, the lack of sports clubs , lack of entertainment in general, feeling monotonous daily life). Some of these reasons can be solved, especially if the wife was able to work. If you suspect that these factors will your wife; you should involve her in deciding whether to travel or not.
2. Climate Impact on health: You must make sure the climatic conditions of the town of residence and suitability for your health and family health; for example, Riyadh known severe drought and dust storms, which does not fit people allergic to these factors, Taif with a low ratio of oxygen is not recommended for people with problems in breathing.

أسافر أو لا أسافر؟ هذا هو السؤال

سافر اذا:

1. كنت تستهدف الارتقاء بمستوى المعيشة و زيادة الدخل .
2. كنت ترغب فى أداء مناسك العمرة أو الحج بصفة مستمرة و تستمتع بالحياة فى مناخ يسهل التقرب لله عز و جل.
3. كنت ترغب بزيادة الخبرة العملية بالعمل فى مشاريع الضخمة ذات ميزانيات المرتفعة.
4. كنت قد تعبت من سرعة وتيرة الحياة فى بلدك و ترغب فى بعض السكينة و الهدوء.

لا تسافر اذا:

1. كنت ممن يشعرون بالحنين للوطن و الأهل.
2. كان فى أفراد أسرتك مريض ممن يحتاج للعناية الخاصة منك.
3. كنت ممن يحبون الحياة الصاخبة المنفتحة فالسعودية بلد محافظ من الدرجة الأولى.

اعتبارات أخرى:

1. الزوجة: تعانى معظم النساء المغتربات فى السعودية من الملل لأسباب منها (لبس الزى الأسود باستمرار، الاعتماد على الزوج فى الخروج، عدم وجود نوادى رياضية لها و للأسرة، قلة وسائل الترفيه بشكل عام، الاحساس برتابة الحياة اليومية). بعض هذه الأسباب يمكن حلها و خصوصا اذا تمكنت الزوجة من العمل سيقلل كثيرا من حدة الملل. إذا كنت تشك فى أن هذه العوامل ستؤثر عليها فيجب أن تشركها فى اتخاذ قرار السفر من عدمه.
2. تأثير المناخ على الصحة: يجب التأكد من الظروف المناخية لبلد الاقامة و مدى ملائمته لصحتك و صحة الأسرة فمثلا الرياض معروفة بالجفاف الشديد و العواصف الترابية مما لا يلائم المصابين بحساسية الصدر، الطائف تقل فيها نسبة الأكسجين لارتفاعها عن سطح الأرض فلا ينصح بها لمن يعانون مشاكل فى التنفس.
